Salam Ayed But it all depends on your setup
Do you have a new modem that does its own dialing? in this case you can let your system pick up all the confs below using the built in DHCP server in your modem/router. If it is your computer doing the dialing then you only need to specify username/pass for your DSL provider and it will get assigned the proper DNS and _external_ IP You can have your own private local IP _and_ get assigned a routable one by your ISP. If you have a 3rd scenario then let us know. On 1/14/07, Ayed <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

So I got Ubuntu no installed on one computer, but I need help in terms of how to enter the data into the network manager. Wanadoo's DNS servers are : 196.27.0.29 primary 196.27.0.7 secondary sever Do I use a static IP?
See above pls. What do I put in the hostname?
Not for connecting but why not have one. hostname xyz.Ayedhome.tld Your hostname is useful for many things but it will not affect your ISP connection. What do I put in the domain? and so on. Anything you want since this is not resolved using the outside world. Notice the .tld I put above. Chose your own not a .com .net .jo tlds. At least until you figure out how DNS works and how it will affect you. Thanks You welcome.
