OK, so that method didn't work for me. I don't know why, but most packages

dpkt: error processing at (--configure)
Anyway, i let it run its course (i left the office after 7 hours, and it
only reached half the list alphabeticaly). This morning, i tried to login, X
wouldn't start, and whenever i try to log in using the terminal, it
complains about not being able to cd to /home/faisal.
I get fed up, ran "sudo find / -type d -chmod o+rx "{}" \;", i'm taking
backups of everything now, (x didn't start, but at least i have a working
terminal), mysql is refusing to start so i can't take a mysqldump. I guess
taking the files located in /var/lib/mysql would work. Then i'll nuke the
system like khamis suggested.
I just hope i learned my lesson :), and thanx for the help guys.
