If the connection is brought down after 15 min of no traffic, then you have to change the values of PPPOE_TIMEOUT and DEMAND in /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf DEMAND=on #try 0 I'm not sure what the number should be to disable this option PPPOE_TIMEOUT=0
