Thank you all for your suggestions and sorry for the late reply.

The doctor supervising the IEEE student branch in the university has been
ill and absent for the last week, he should return on Sunday, so we still
don't have details about the time and date, the location and the equipment
that we can work on. so please bear with me until Sunday or Monday.

IEEE also does a series of Engineering Lectures, one per week. based on Laoi
recommendation; we can make a lecture about the Open Source philosophy, and
schedule it on the week just before the course. This way we can also invite
the students who attend the lecture to the crash course.

Couple of years ago, there was a lecture about open source philosophy and
Linux that was held in the IT department in JU, i don't remember the name of
the guy who gave it but i really enjoyed the course. was it you Laoi ? :)

About the outline, thank you Abdallah and Khamis for your suggestions.
I think there are enough topics for beginners to fill 5 days, or at least 4.
We can start by making a list of the things we can include in the course:
(not in order)

   - -Introduction to Linux and [Open Source and Free Software]
   - Download, Install, Boot, dual booting.
   - Introducing the application and the GUI environments
   - What is Root user? (users and groups management )
   - Checking your hardware
   - Connect to the network and Internet, bridge-mode ADSL, wireless,
   samba.
   - Getting help (man, forums, etc ...)
   - How to install more or update your packages (apt-get, synaptic, etc
...), what is the sources.list file, getting packages from 3rd party
   sources.
   - Introduction to Essential Commands and Bash.
   - mounting FAT/NTFS partitions.
   - Multimedia support.
   - (please add here if you have any suggestions, or remove from the
list if you see that it doesn't fit beginners )

If you don't have enough time or knowledge to attends all the days, you can
just give on the days that fit you. And i hope we will have enough
volunteers to fill all the days :).

From Abdallah:

It happened that in the IEEE committee for this year there were 2 Linux
users, but this committee will last only another 6 months. We will try to
encourage students to form a Linux-club inside the uni, this would help
spread Linux in the future years.

Best Regards
