In short, yes, it is possible; provided that your hardware (the wireless adapter) supports operation in "master" mode. You can google around to check if this particular model does.
If so, you can either set it up to be on a separate network and use packet forwarding so that the wireless network is completely separate from any LAN you might have (using iptables or your choice firewall). Or you can bridge the interfaces but in that case a firewall is HIGHLY recommended and you need to take extra care with what rules you put into it. Other points to consider might be: Is this machine a gateway for an existing LAN? or is it behind a gateway? Do you wish to run services such as DHCP and DNS on the gateway machine? If you provide additional details regarding your current setup vs. your desired setup i'm sure many people would be more than happy to help or guide you in the right direction.
