Thanks Ammar, Yes, we are now thinking to bring software freedom ideas and FLOSS ideology to some public institutions (especially here in Irbid). We already planned to start an initiative for some public and private schools in Irbid. We really hope we will have positive answers from officials and good results...
About your questions/comments... 1- Eduwave is not open source, in fact I defined the system as 'open source friendly'. It was supposed to be available on Linux platforms.(links: linux.com <http://www.linux.com/feed/32325>, ameinfo<http://www.ameinfo.com/50441.html>). Some programmers at ITG <http://www.itgsolutions.com/> told me that they started to build it using JAVA technologies, but later it was converted to asp.net (Probably after the partnership with Microsoft??) 2- I wish AlBawaba will provide more open source projects in the future. (Btw, this link and other ones are available on the .odp file, but unfortunately I cannot upload it to the OSG website for some technical reasons). 3- Very good! I thought it was only a single project. Well, I suppose these are some pioneer (and very rare) initiatives to release open source projects by public administration here in MENA region. Two thumbs up to your nice interview on LJ. 4- Some links: Geodatabase to play important role in preserving Kingdom's archaeological treasures http://www.jordantimes.com/?news=10653 Farallon to build Middle Eastern Geodatabase for Antiquities http://www.fargeo.com/press/releases/mega-jordan/ Jordanian e-health team tours Texas hospital, considers Open Source EHR http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=9314 Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Releases RFQ to Pilot VistA in Public Health System http://linuxmednews.com/1204395272/index_html Thank you very much Ammar, I always appreciate your feedback :) 2008/10/2 Ammar Ibrahim <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > The last presentation is fantastic!
