Hi all! I just want to inform JoLug members that the last Linux meeting at Al Al-Bayt University was really a success. Some academic members were there to attend the lectures, in addition, the university will start to give a free 'Linux for Beginners' course in IT labs within the next two weeks. (More info and photos here <http://www.just.edu.jo/opensource/article.php?id=31>)
Btw, all the students at the meeting were surprised by Linux capabilities and functionalities and said they will try to use Linux rather than another closed-source operating system ;) The meeting was held in cooperation with *JUST Open Source Group*, in fact, group members Ibrahim Mufeed and Ahmad Amri have given two lectures about open source history / philosophy and open source alternatives. The first lecture was about Linux and it was kindly given by AABU student Muhammad Jaradat. This meeting was held three months after we had a similar meeting at Yarmouk University <http://www.just.edu.jo/opensource/article.php?id=21>. Ah, We also had a lecture about 'Google Applications' presented by Google Ambassador at JUST, Anas Bsoul. (You can download the slides from here<http://www.just.edu.jo/opensource/documents/Google%20Apps.pdf>- PDF 2494 KB) Thanks! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ ### Jordan Linux Users Group ### http://Jolug.org/ http://groups.google.com/group/Jolug ### Ubuntu Jordan LoCo Team ### https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JordanTeam http://lists.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-jo ### Ojuba Linux ### http://ojuba.org/ ### Jordan PHP ### http://groups.google.com/group/JoPHP -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
