I wouldn't be too quick to cheer our govt as insightful or even well informed. They may have said no for closed source software, but the closed source mentality still lingers. The new publications, e-commerce, and cyber crime laws are seriously more dangerous to creativity and free-thought than M$ ever was.
Give us M$ products back and revoke those laws. At least, M$ is something we can fight against. If those laws, they are here to stay, and may god help us all.
