Database Access

I am attempting to create a large application and I would like to provide segmentation between different user bases.  I have thought of segmenting the users into separate databases on the same RDBMS.  The problem is in the jonas-ejb-jar.xml file.  I believe for a bean managed ejb we need to specify the database at bean deployment.  If this is so, back to the drawing board?   Can anyone validate or shed some light on this topic?   Thanks in advance!
