Big Rickie Lee fan here! She is the only person I stood in line for many hours to get tickets for...this was when she was playing a small theatre here in SB & she was at the height of her career...tickets sold out fast. I believe it was the concert before the concert in San Diego where she got a really bad review for being sooooo out of it. After that I think I heard she got the message & cleaned up her act. Actually I thought they were great that night...a little loose yes, but still great. She & the band sure drank a lot of... J&B? Someone in the audience handed them a bottle & they drank it up too! After the concert we went down to our local hang to hear some friends & some of Rickie's band showed up to jam, but without Rickie. I ended up talking to Sal (who was at one time her boyfriend...it sounds like he is still in the band). We were talking about how nice Santa Barbara was & I told him he ought to take a ride up into the mountains to see the view from there. Oh no, he said, mountains make me nervous...(in a thick jersey accent). LOL. Years later I was at a Bruce Hornby concert, sitting at a table with a bunch of friends & there was an empty seat next to me. After the show started, the venue manager showed a lady in a red coat to the seat beside me. I glanced over & it was Rickie Lee! Apparently was going to join Bruce later in his second set. It was too loud to say anything to her so I waited until the break but she left to go backstage before I had a chance to say whatever dumb thing I might have said to her. But that was cool...sitting next to Rickie Lee watching the concert! Not as cool as dancing with Joni ala Paz, but still pretty cool.... Okay time to get my act together to get ready for Boston...
