Hi, folks, I enjoyed the much-needed break immensely. Why can't we be surrounded by great musicians and adorable people like at Jonifest, all the time! I'd like to add my own favorites to the many fond remembrances. Music I heard: Anne Sandstrom playing Greg Brown's "Rooty-Toot-Toot for the Moon" on the back deck Russ' wicked honky-tonk, and Stephanie's lovely classical piano playing Steve Politka's aching rendition of "Two Grey Rooms" Anything played by Greg or Claudia My lovely wife Leslie singing "Way Over Yonder", with Paz on keyboards Church sets by Wally K, Willy the Shake and Kay special mention to Paz and Victor, for the "Thick as a Brick" excerpt at Atty's - cats are on the upgrade! >From my own playing: Bluegrass, Irish tunes and that Turkish belly-dance number, with Les and Claudia in Ashara's kitchen...playing with Kate, Jeff and Victor in the sun room..playing with Marcel, Ms. Mixon and the Jonifest Jugband at the church..and of course "The Weight" with the Joni wig and everybody else nonmusical moments: John van Tiel reaching down to give Nikki a hug, and lifting her about 2 ft off the ground Maggie's remembrances of hanging out with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir in a lounge somewhere, complete with bad lounge act Victor informing me and Ms. Mixon that he'd bugged our conversation at the Tealuxe Cafe in Boston - that is so weird! Cool, though - Gotta hear it. Thanks for being yrselves, folks. Love Steve Mixon
