My understanding is that the design & engineering of
the Towers took into consideration the possibility of
an aviation accident ... of the type where, I believe,
a B-25 accidentally struck the Empire State Building
in the late 1940s.  It was for this reason that it was
common knowledge ... until Tuesday, no one even
considered the possibility of such an attack as a
security threat.
