Hello All, Haven't posted in aaaages! But had to when I saw the Joni mention in the great Leonard Cohen interview in the November issue of MOJO magazine (makes Rolling Stone look like Highlites or the weekly circular). When Leonard was asked wether he was aquainted with the prime movers of the '60s popular culture..."I had dinner with Jim Morrison and a number of other people at a restaurant beside the Troubadour in Los Angeles. We exchanged a few words but he was already into the drink and seemed quite swollen and uncomfortable with the diner an himself. Hendrix and I actually jammed together one night in New York. He knew my song Suzanne. he was very gentle; he didn't distort his guitar. I remeber another time I was walking up 23rd street, the street the Chelsea Hotel was on, with Joni Mitchell, a very beautiful woman, and a big limousine pulled up - Jimi Hendrix was in the back seat and he was chatting up Joni from the inside of the limo."
As some of you may know...I have a craving to hear what went down at the jam session between Joni and Jimi...now I'd also love to hear what music was made between Joni and Leonard...and perhaps Jimi's version of Suzanne hmmmm. Does anyone out there in the music world know of how we can hire John Oswald and his "Plunderphonics" for a fantasy gig made a virtual reality? On a somewhat unrelated topic...does anyone have a video tape of the VH1 Concert for New York City? I'm out here in the cultural sticks and would love to see a bit of it. I'm good for all sorts of trades in the way of CDs. Just let me know what you may need. Take care, Julian Find the one for you at Yahoo! Personals http://personals.yahoo.com
