Thanks, John Irving for a brief, but terrific art technique lesson! You've managed to capture in just a few paragraphs what it took my art history professors weeks to describe!
I too found that my painting classes were really lacking in the specifics of technique. The drawing classes, on the other hand, were quite good, as were the art history classes. I probably learned more technique, at least in theory, in my art history classes than in my painting classes! And I've forgotten so much! btw, we've got some really great threads going, I'm really savoring this little 'golden age' of the JMDL. lots of love Anne
