<< The accompanying music was "River," sung by some guy with a rough voice somewhere between (but neither) Joe Cocker and Robert Downey Jr. Any one of you cover specialists recognize that version? >>
Hmmm...I dunno Paul, I haven't seen the ad. Somebody had mentioned that Kenny Lattimore/Peter White's versio was used in an ad, but Kenny's voice is like buttah. If I see the ad, I'm sure I'll recognize who it is, and I'll let you know. OR maybe it's one I don't know of! Praise be! Speaking of River covers, I took the plunge (get it? Plunge? River?) and bought the Holiday CD called "wonderland - a winter solstice celebration" with Peter Mulvey's cover of River on it, and I am thoroughly pleased with the whole thing. Very different, and totally free of cheesy arrangements and cliche. Plus, partial proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, so they can have real food instead of tofu! :~) Another plus...Signature Sounds (the record company) throws in a whole 'nother CD free, giving you samples of some of their artists. Some are better than others, but some great stuff on it to be sure. If you're looking for some new holiday music, you could do a lot worse than this deal. Bob NP: Red House Painters, "Blindfold"
