Two observations about the Grammy nods: This strikes me as the best set of Album of the Year nominees in recent memory:
Acoustic Soul, India.Arie Love and Theft, Bob Dylan Stankonia, Outkast All That You Can't Leave Behind, U2 O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Various Artists While not the absolute best albums of the time period under consideration, they are all very strong. I've also long been saying that this was quietly the year of the soul woman, with countless wonderful recordings by Afr-Am women both above and below the radar screen. All of the nominees for best R&B album and five of the six nominees for R&B song are by women.
