Truly there are so many great artists out there touring, recording etc but they are independent or on smaller lables. Listen to folk radio, go to folk alliance conferences, summer music festivals, your local music venue that caters to quality artists, etc...they are just not on major labels anymore. Like Ann said, its not about lyrics or intelligence anymore...In my opinion the majors are about what sells & what sells is sex & violence. But truly, there are sooooo many very very talented, players, singers, songwriters out there that are not getting bolstered by the star making machinery dollars.
