In addition to "flatulent melisma", my other new favorite expression, 
stumbled over in a book about the changing architecture of NYC, is "soigne 
ennui".  "Beautiful boredom" just doesn't quite say it as well... "pampered 
poverty???"  Nope.  Just love the French.  God bless Ms. Huxtable, who was 
the architecture critic for the NY Times for a long time.  She coined it.
