I've never connected liking the Dan to liking Alan Parsons, BUT "I Robot" is an awesome record, and most of "Pyramid" is great as well. Alan jumped the shark shortly thereafter. And don't forget that Parsons is probably most responsible for the sonics behind one of Rock's best works - Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". And as for Steely Dan?
