This is to let you all know that The Joni Mitchell's Beside Herself Fund is now fully operational.
The aim of the Fund is to raise money to commission a park bench with a figure of Joni Mitchell, probably in bronze, sitting at one end of it, and to seek permission to locate this either in downtown Saskatoon near the river, or on Broadway Avenue, where Joni Mitchell often sang in the local coffee houses. The Fund is now accepting donations, which should be sent to: JM's Beside Herself 619 Temperance Street Saskatoon, SK S7N 0M4 Cheques or money orders should be made payable to: The JM's Beside Herself Fund The telephone number of the Fund is: 306-652-8016. Email address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 100 per cent of donations will go toward paying for the statue. Committee members are not taking any expenses. The Fund's bank account is with the Credit Union on Broadway Avenue, Saskatoon. We'll be doing a proper media launch as soon as we can find an artist to make a sketch of the bench, for a poster we want to put up around town, so that people can see what they'll be donating to. The Fund's committee members are: Sarah Gibb - freelance journalist/writer living in Saskatoon Tina Merrifield - acting director of communications at the University of Saskatchewan, living in Saskatoon Mary Tastad - law librarian at the University of Saskatchewan, living in Saskatoon Mark Salzl - forestry researcher in Queen Charlotte City B.C., raised in Saskatchewan, who has written many times to Saskatoon city council asking them to commission a statue Les Irvin - founder of the Joni Mitchell Discussion List at http://www.jmdl.com If anyone would like to make a donation, any sum - no matter how small - would be gratefully received. And if anyone can help out with the artwork for the poster, please drop us a line. Best wishes, Sarah Gibb
