Bruce, I believe that there IS no obvious subject to it. False alarm is just a metaphor for everything. In general, for the song Amelia I think it refers back to failed love throughout the song, albeit not directly. But then I also think it's just for everything. You thought something was this, and then not...it was a false alarm. It's too early for me to be articulate and I'm going to be late for work AGAIN.
