I'm sure she would have thanked me profusely for my advice, smiling graciously as she operated the lever to the trapdoor...Would she do this with a cigarette in hand or would it be on the ash tray? I bet she would love to do this to 95% of the people in the music biz and there would be nothing gracious about it. (She would probably be smiling though). Actually Joni wouldn't be Joni if she didn't have tons of opposing forces. While she may bitch about the oppositions, I think keeping them nearby is how she feels most stimulated to move on and create. A trap door would be like a nuclear bomb for her, something you have just in case you really get pushed but hopefully never really find yourself wanting to use it. The RollingStone mag would probably have done some cute little humorous drawing to the whole Joni/Trapdoor image.
