When I saw Joni in 1971 in Detroit I think at the Masonic Hall she came out
on stage and said "The last Time I was here was in 68, but she refered to the
Elm Trees dieing of the "Dutch Elm Tree Virus" and then started playing
TLTISR .
I got lucky and won ticket's to see Tori Amos play three songs in a small
performance room at KINK FM of course when the DJ asked her about what music
influenced her when she was young she said she listened to "Ladies of the
Canyon" LP.Tori was dressed in the best Saks 5th Ave. apparel she was wearing
the same shoes as on her Scarlet's Walk CD "Hey I was siting in the front
row". She started to tear up when she was telling the story about an Indian
Woman talking to her after a performance. Also she told a good story about
being back stage hanging with Diana Ross and another Diva in a dressing room
threw a tantrum and the dresser came out of the room in tears Diana consoled
the dresser with a remark "Give me a few minutes with Miss So and So she
apparently does not have the right playbook.
Mr. Nash came on KINK fm here in Portland pushing his book on "Song Writers",
This is the only station in town that plays Joni of course the DJ ask him for
a story on his song "my house'' it seems G&J spent the day on the town
visiting Antique shop's and when they got back home he wrote that song.
