Joni if the styles of the 40's and 50's?

I have to disagree with you here. In my opinion,these arrangements have
nothing to do with the styles of the 40's and 50's. They are unique orchestral
interpretations of music that never would have been produced during that era.
If anything they are a synthesis of post romantic classical music trends of
the 70's and 80's with jazz inflections and Joni's unusual melodic gift. I
urge you to give the album a few more listens.  There is stuff here that no
one is doing in pop, jazz or classical music.
