Now you're talkin! > From: Chris Marshall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Forgive me for asking this, but... when a message comes > through to the Joni-only list, with a subject line that > should be NJC, and, say, is clearly political, isn't > the delete key the answer? You don't *have* to read every > message - If you get the digest version, as I do, you have no choice but to scroll past posts you aren't interested in. Not only is it irritating to scroll past paragraph after paragraph of postings that those of us on the list have specifically requested not be posted (if I want to read about politics, for instance, there are no shortage of places to do so; I don't care to have it foisted on me here, even if I am only scrolling past it), but I am also impatient when people don't delete parts of posts they are not replying specifically to -- so I have to scroll again past entire posts I've already read. > I don't understand why you > get infuriated when you have a choice. Digesters don't have a choice -- yeah we scroll by and don't read, but we shouldn't have to in the first place. It's just as Ken said -- some people know damn well the joni-only list is not for their political rants, but they steamroll over everybody else anyway. It's rude, it's disrespectful, and damn right it's self-serving. I'm not talking about accidentally forgetting the njc. Everyone does that once in a while, and that doesn't call for ripping their skin off. It's the deliberate "Screw you guys, I'm taking over the soapbox" attitude of people who Just Can't Believe that *everyone* is not interested in everything they themselves care about. For god's sake -- we understand you need to tell *someone* but please go tell someone who is willing to listen! Kate http://xoetc.antville.org
