Count me in as a Piano Jazz fan. I like Marian McPartland a lot. Her piano playing seems to incorporate the styles of the guests in her program who played duo piano with her. And we are richer for that. Her playing has a, to quote a song, sophisticated swing and its always tasteful. Like George Shearing. I think McPartland must be in her mid-80s now, yes? But if the late violinist Stephane Grappelli showed us, high levels of creativity and musicianship and age are mutually exclusive.
By the way, I just listened to Fred Simon's USUALLY/ALWAYS album again today and I _always_ get a natural high with the title track that sampled voices and made them blend with the instruments! A delight from start to finish. > I am a fan of Piano Jazz, and listen to it regularly, so thanks for the > heads up.
