Everyone with a speedy enough internet connection can listen by going to http://www.wfuv.org and clicking on the "Hear WFUV Now!" picture. They recommend at least a 56K modem connection and you need Windows Media Player, which you can download from the WFUV website. I've just managed to get it set up on my Mac via Netscape and it's coming through wonderfully clearly. It may be that recording via the internet is a better idea than via the airwaves, in which case anyone anywhere with a fast connection and big enough hard drive could do it. The radio signal transmitter is in the Bronx, which is not far from where I am in Manhattan, and yet I've never been able to pick up WFUV on the radio. The line up IS impressive. I had expected to skip the first "session" but now don't want to miss finding out how Laurie Anderson will interpret a Joni song (with violin I hope) and would like to see Lucy Kaplansky also. And there are people throughout the day I don't want to miss. What a grand event this is! Debra Shea NP: The news on WFUV.org.
