I wrote this one for my dad. I would REALLY be excited if the designer
of the parody page could please put a link to this on that page!
Please
write me when this is done. I haven't shown it to Dad yet--I'm
waiting
until it gets posted on the net. Peace--EG

"Bitching 'Bout Summer Lawns" by Stairway

Dedicated to my father, Mad Russian.

Mom looked out the back window
At the backyard's sloping hill
"I can't see the family barbecue
from the window sill"
As Dad trudges out in the blinding sun,
I hear him bitching 'bout summer lawns

He weedwhacks by the fence
Where it gets so overgrown
And his sunburned head
Sports little growth of its own
He edges out where the curb is
Steps where the dogs have gone
And starts bitching 'bout summer lawns

Daddy
He can't take it easy
Daddy
With this grunt-work task
Daddy
Weekend's gone
My old man gets no time to relax

Working like a dog
To get done before it rains
He breaks for another Pepsi glass
And claims his back's in too much pain
The mosquitos buzzing
And the heat wave burning-in a snarling voice
He's bitching 'bout summer lawns

Now there's darkness setting in
Got no choice but to quit it
He's got a lawn like a golf-course green
And no one to see it
Still he sweats like a pig of some kind
And in a tired voice
Still bitches 'bout summer lawns.
