For what it is worth, Debian GNU/Linux includes a package of the gpscorrelate program. One minor annoyance in it that I have not bothered to fix yet is that it can process only one GPX trace at a time. I sometimes split the traces into logical steps while recording them, but I cannot do the same for the photos. So, I have merged GPX traces in a text editor when needed.
