UNDER HIS WINGS An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings... After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, that those under the cover of her wings would live... Psalm 91:4 "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." It is such an encouragement for me to know that God has me covered with His mighty wings. Nothing that comes my way will have a chance to overtake or overcome my life because I have the king of kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ on my side. Praise the Lord for His goodness and protection for all those who put their trust in Him. I encourage you to take refuge under the Master's wings. He is faithful to be with you and protect you from any vice and plan the enemy has come up with for your life. Read and meditate on these scriptures of trust and protection: Psalm 91:10-11 "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Psalm 34:7-8 "The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Psalm 91:15-16 the Lord says, "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
