Hi friends, Last year Jesus youth introduced a pocket bible calendar with topic for each month - Love, Sin, Holy Spirit, etc. And in this year Bible calendar helps us to inculcate Christian values and each month there are two values for us to practice. For the first half of the January, it was joyfulness, and now it's started - Enthusiasm/ Zeal to spread the kingdom of God.
Few days' back, I was in school library and my mind was little disturbed. I tried to concentrate on new paper, but failed. Meanwhile, Rajani came in to library. About Rajani, who is from Goa, one of the computer teachers in our school & a strong devotee of Sr.Buddha. She greeted me & seated next to me. After a few minutes of reading, in a mild sound she asked, "Priya, why are you looks so gloomy? Anything wrong?" Quickly I answered: "Nothing" She stared at me, as she didn't like my reply and was silent. But that was only for few minutes, even forgetting about the library rules she started to talk again. I have no other way than become a passive listener. Through her talk she encouraged me to be cheerful always & quoted many verses from her religious book. - Dhammapada.What all she said was in another form of our Bible verses. The next day Rajani, gave me a pamphlet, and asked me to recite a 'manthra' to regain the peace of mind whenever I lose it. After 2 days, again she gave me two articles to read and taught me some more prayers, which they were using in their community. Even though I didn't follow her, I amazed seeing her zeal for Buddhism. In school, she is trying to reach out and touch all those who are needy. She circulates Buddhist pamphlets, quotes the verses from their religious books, and inspires many staffs to follow Buddhism. After this incident, I was thinking where I am standing? Its high time to think how much Zeal we have for His kingdom. Bible says - "I know that you are neither cold, nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other! But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth" Rev 3:15-16. If we want, we too can console others through the bible verses, we too can circulate various Christian magazines, we too can teach some 'free praises' (manthras). To do all these we need little more 'enthusiasm' or little more 'zeal'!!! In our lives, we too get many chances to share "Christ." Let's try not to lose any chance and pray to Holy Spirit to set our hearts on fire! Praise God! Priya Joseph Cochin PS.
