Dear Friends,

Had a very wonderful experience yesterday; just had to
share it with all of you.

In our parish, once a year we celebrate the parish
feast day, with too many different celebrations.
And yesterday, the whole of our town (A small town in
udupi district in mangalore called
kallianpur)witnessed a wonderful "jesus celebration".
No doubt, the cathoic church nowadays is getting more
and more evangelical.
Yesterday, as a preparation for the parish feast day
to be held on the 22nd, there was a one kilomreter
long procession of the blessed sacrament from the
church to a very public bus stand immediately after
the evening mass, in which around 800 people might
have participated. The bible verses prepared by the
parishners, were hung and highlighted all through the
way of the procession in simple local language
kannada, beautiful hymns were sung through out the
procession(not only by the church choir but by every
member paticipating in the procession), Jesus was
being glorified to the maximuim level possible,
through out the way in the procession, my mind raced
back to Jesus times, where he travelled through
Jerusalem on a donkey, this time though It was not a
donkey, but a beautifully decorated car.
When e reached the town busstand, where a small stage
was prepared, a priest from the neighbouring parish,
gave a small but a very effective talk to the local
people in the native language. This talk was attended
not just by christians but by all people, of all
religions, so to say, all those who were either
waiting for a bus, or were shopping in the area.

When the Priest, (full of Holy Spirit) proclaimed
loudly about the life, death and resurecction of
Jesus, followed by its interpretations for the modern
age, stressing now and then that Jesus was love, He
lived love, He preached love, and He buitlt an empire
of love, the only weapon He used was love, there was
pin drop silence, even in such a public bustand. No
doubt, the message went clear to all who were there. ,

I, with great difficulty was repressing my urge to
sing out loudly 'hail Jesus you are my king'

Praise God Jesus was was glorified before all men
there. What can be more marvellous, specially it was
a inoitiative takenm, not by any charismatic or any
retreat groups, but by simple church going parishners
along with their most admired parish priest.
love,
anita
