Like some one said..." God can write straight on Crooked Lines" Since he has mailed the joynet , we decided that it is best to clarify this mail on the Joynet . Firstly a word of Caution to all of us. The Bible is the "Word of God in Words of Man". It is not a science text book or a history text book. And we should not treat it so. The Bible is a Faith Book which helps us in growing in our faith. In the Middle-Ages the Church tried to use the bible as a science book and we know what harm and trouble it has caused. For e.g. remember the persecution that copernicus and galileo faced for saying that the earth moved round the sun. The Pope recently apologised for this behaviour of his predecessors from those times. I think we shouldnt repeat the mistake again... The people who circulate this kind of mail take the literal meaning of the biblical texts; that too of the english translation and add their own interpretations to it. They claim to be inspired by the Holy spirit who reveals the meaning of each text to them in their ears. What we cannot understand is this; How can the Same Holy Spirit give different meanings to different people for the same text. So either the Holy Spirit is lying or These People are lying. The Biblical Scriptures were written in Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek, Many of them borrowed teachings from Babylonian and egyptian literature prevalent in those days. These were later translated to Latin and then to King James English (Old English) and then to Modern English. So you see how dangerous it is to quote the literal meaning of bible texts in english without understanding the real meaning intended by the author. Also let us remember that the bible didnt drop from the sky, it was passed down as oral traditions, And was written much later by people we dont even know . These writings were much later sorted, and divided into scripture and non-scripture and complied only after the year 400 A.D. This whole process of sorting and compiling scripture was done over a period of 350 to 400 years by the fathers of the church. Another point to be remembered is that none of these guys who spoke or wrote these books from the bible ever imagined that they will be read as scripture in our days. Each of these books was written for a specific reason and purpose during the lifetime of the Sacred author. It is Gods Wonderful power which ensures that these words written thousands of years back make sense and touch us even today. ANSWER:The Jews always thought that the earth was flat and that heaven was a dome (hemi-sphere ) which covered it . They believed that God's Throne was above that dome and he would by his power ensure that nature moves in fixed order. E.g. rising and setting of the sun, the seasons, the movement of the winds.. They also believed that there were many gates on this dome called heaven and that god would open the doors of these gates and let rain pour on the earth at appropriate times. Hence the above mentioned scripture says that god sits enthroned on the dome of heavens which at first sight appears circular. Stand at the Beach and you will feel for urself what the jews felt. Flat space extending till your eyes can see and a dome like cover on top of it. The author of Isaiah is quoting observable phenomenon, so this guys statement that the bible was right and the people were wrong is stupid if not anything else. For all the other evidence , this guy is quoting observable phenomenon like the eagles vision, the ostrich and the peacock wings stuff he quotes from Job. Everything else about planes and cars is all just reading between the lines and imagination at work. Such literature is like a Trojan Horse. It shows itself to be very useful from the outside, but is very harmful once it is inside. Be aware of what you read ... Just because it says good things about the Bible doesnt mean it is right.. Remember that even the evil spirits believe and proclaim that Jesus is the Holy one of God as we see in the Gospel of Mark. Which is observable Phenomenon, but they never ever say that he is the Son of God which is the Truth. It is a very subtle difference , but a very powerful one all the same.. As every single prophecy in the Bible regarding the past has been fulfilled, likewise, every single prophecy of the future will come to pass. Job 38:35-CANST THOU SEND LIGHTNINGS (or we might say, electrical currents), THAT THEY MAY GO, AND SAY UNTO THEE, HERE WE ARE? How will people all over the world see the dead bodies of the two witnesses lying in the streets of Jerusalem during the Tribulation? Could it be through television via satellite and also the Internet? Rev 11:9-AND THEY OF THE PEOPLE AND KINDREDS AND TONGUES AND NATIONS SHALL SEE THEIR DEAD BODIES THREE DAYS AND AN HALF, AND SHALL NOT SUFFER THEIR DEAD BODIES TO BE PUT IN GRAVES. Could this be a description of an automobile, written thousands of years ago? It is evident-the more they learn, the more vast the universe seems to be. They have found that "space" seems to extend billions of light years, and the galaxies seem to be almost without number.
