jQuery is already in the Software Freedom Conservancy (they host all
our finances, for example). The code base, however, is not - that's
going to take a significant amount of time and legal work to make it
happen. /Maybe/ it might happen this year, but that's really hard to
foresee. To your client you can tell them that since Microsoft is
shipping jQuery as part of their developer platform it's probably
pretty safe to say that any potential legal issues have already been
sussed out (and there weren't any, when they talked with us).

We haven't had major discussions yet concerning the adoption of 3rd
party code bases but I could definitely see it being a possibility.
