Hello- Thanks for the feedback regarding the new jQuery plugins page. I am the person who developed the new plugins site, and we are currently putting the finishing touches on it before announcing it to the entire community.
One of the issues we are facing is migrating all of the old plugins over, as was mentioned above. We are still trying to work this out because the new project management system based upon Drupal requires the plugin author to register the project themselves due to the permissions structure. As far as categories are concerned, we are putting the final touches on these as well. I would love to have all plugins displayed on a single page. However, because of Drupal, this is much easier said then done. As soon as we ramp up the new plugins site, we plan to tackle these additional issues. Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming!
