you're welcome. The script block was generated by VS2003. As people in upstairs already mentioned, the purpose of having '<!-- //-->' in script block is to hide the content of script block to browsers that don't support scripts.
If you try to use '//<!-- ... //-->' block to achieve same result, it won't work, the string '//' will be still shown for browsers that don't support scripts, because it's not within HTML comment.
