[jQuery] How to disable (or properly remove) meta refresh?

Hi group, just a quick question here.

Does anyone know how can I disable the refresh effect of the following
meta element: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10;URL=index.htm" /
>?

I've tried $("[EMAIL PROTECTED]").remove(); but it didn't
work. I'm so hopeful of a solution.
