I lied.. ahah, I cant get either way to work.. this is the function i
am trying to get to re-bind.. which technique would you suggest?

$("dl").find("dt.sidewidget-top, dt.widget-
top").find("ul").click(function(){

                        var itemSelected = "";

                        if($(this).parent().next().is("dt.widget-middle"))
                        {
                                $(this).parent().parent().find("dt.widget-middle
ul").children().each (function (){
                                                if(itemSelected != "y")

if($(this).attr("class") != ".selected")
                                                                itemSelected =
"n";
                                                        else
                                                                itemSelected =
"y";
                                });

                        }

if($(this).parent().parent().children("dd").is("dd:visible"))

$(this).children("li").filter(".second").children("a").text("+");
                        else

$(this).children("li").filter(".second").children("a").text("-");

                        if(itemSelected != "n" || itemSelected == "")

$(this).parent().parent().children("dd").slideToggle(400);
                        else
                                $(this).parent().next().Shake(4);

                        return false;
                });
