for this, i would suggest something along the lines of the the example given
below...

You will have this somewhere in ur code... this is the validation logic

var validator = $("#frm").validate({
rules: {}
});

What i am trying to say is, u dont specify the event that is used by the
validator in the validator itself... Also u assign the validator to a
separate variable.

Then, on some event in ur form (eg: keydown), invoke this valitor.

$("#someInputField").keydown(function() {
  $.blockUI();
  validator.form(); // this invokes the validator
  $.unblockUI();
});
