that happens due to the fact that IE6 can't handle empty divs
properly. Try to build up the jcarousel markup like (note the comments
inside the divs):
<div id="mycarousel">
<div class="jcarousel-prev"><!-- spacer --></div>
<div class="jcarousel-next"><!-- spacer --></div>
<ul>
<li>...</li>
</ul>
