I have similar concerns as you. I think it will come together, but often with open source projects, the docs have peaks and valleys over time in regards to comprehensiveness, accuracy and usefulness. It might be in a valley, but a peak is on the way. I know Tane Piper is looking for help on the project. Everyone is encouraged (more than that) to chip in.
