Peter, Although I have made my accessible to the aria standards completely yet, I have a working framework that does pass 508 compliance and works real well with JAWS over at http://airplume.informationexperts.com/. There are a few more things we need to implement to make the site better, things like shortcut keys, and adding better focus events.
My set up is forever evolving, so what I have may not be the best, but it is something I am working on.
