Did you try this:

$(document).ready(function () {
    $("input.saveButton").click(function () {

      var parent = this.parentNode;
      alert(parent);

    });
  });


And if you want to get the jQuery object, $(this.parentNode).

Anyway, you have the "parents()" method.
