Back when I was looking for one, I had the same problem. I ended up grabbing one of them that was closest and making quite a few changes to the source to make it behave how I thought an autocomplete plugin should behave, and also to greatly increase performance. My hacked version has been passed around since then in our dev groups and is what we generally use. I considered releasing it, but thought that another hack-of-a-hack-of-a-hack plugin would just add more confusion. :) Matt Kruse
