One thing I noticed is that the JavaScript is still painfully slow, but perhaps there is a lot of debug stuff in there slowing it down.
What takes 7 seconds in Safari and 8 in Firefox 3b3 takes 25 seconds in IE8! (28 seconds in IE6).
