I've just solved the problem, it was a parsing error due to a comma in
front of the last option as in the exemple below:
$("#thumbnails").cycle({
        fx:'dvThNails',
        timeout:0,
        pager:"ul.nav",
        pagerAnchorBuilder: function(idx, slide){
            return 'ul.nav li:eq(' + (idx) + ') a';
        }, // this extra comma was removed and the problem solved in
IE6/7 and Safari (Sorry, my bad!)
    });
