[jQuery] reading from HTML file...

hie everybbody,
can any one tell me how do i read from HTML file using ajax or
JQuery,,,.
I have to use this in ASP.NET but i do not want to use Server side,
that is why wished to use JQuery but i even do not know about the
function which is to be used,
can you please help em out,
and tell the way i can use it.
