I know what you mean, Ben. I think the site is having load problems as well; I get a lot of timeout errors in the evening. One problem was that people are trying to grab their copies of jQuery directly from the jQuery site, rather than making their own copies or using the Google copy.
Can you post a message to the jQuery-dev list about this?
