with 1.3.1 I'm able to get pixel measurement from percent with no
problem.

example:

<body>
<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<div id=d1 style="width:100%;border:1px solid black">
    <div id=d2 style="width:90%;border:1px solid black">
        <div id=d3 style="width:90%;border:1px solid black">
            <div id=d4 style="width:90%;border:1px solid black">
                test
            </div>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>
<script>
alert($("#d1").width());
alert($("#d2").width());
alert($("#d3").width());
alert($("#d4").width());
</script>
</body>
