I'm just getting to know jQuery. The basic tutorial (http:// docs.jquery.com/Tutorials:How_jQuery_Works ) fails to mention that $ is used as a shortcut for jQuery. Things would have made much more sense the first time I read through it if this had been mentioned.
I'm used to $ preceding a variable name as in PHP. A different use of $ was confusing and need not have been if it were explained in the first place. I offer this input that you might improve the tutorial. --Nathan Shaskin Compliance Publishing
